Studying · Video on shelf

Watch as you take notes.

Learning something new goes faster when the video stays visible while you write. TopShelf pins any YouTube lecture, Coursera video, tutorial, or livestream as a small floating window on top of Notes, Notion, Obsidian, or any other note app on macOS, so you can watch and write at the same time without alt-tabbing.

How to do it with TopShelf

  1. 1 Open TopShelf from the menu barClick the TopShelf icon in the macOS menu bar.
  2. 2 Paste the lecture URLPaste a YouTube, Coursera, Twitch, or any other video URL. Web video players work exactly as they would in a browser tab: play, pause, seek, adjust speed.
  3. 3 Resize and pinResize the floating window to sit in a corner of your screen. Open your note app underneath. TopShelf keeps the video on top so it never gets buried when you focus the note app.
